Class 4 - Mathematical and Lateral Thinking

Class: Mr Carruthers - Derwentwater Year: 2019 - 2020

We started the year off with some mathematical riddles that were designed to stretch our brains.... sideways!!

Lateral thinking means thinking about things in a different way, from a different angle, or as Olivia said "Thinking outside the box, Mr C!"

One problem was to help a farmer get a fox, chicken, and grain across a river in a small boat; without it being a carnage of blood, feathers and chomped grain!!

Another was Mr C's classic game of Nim.... try it at home.... can you work out some winning tactics?  (Imogen did!!)
