Headteacher's Welcome

At St James' CofE Junior School we pride ourselves on creating a nurturing atmosphere, where our children are given varied opportunities to grow as a whole person. Believing in the unique individuality of every child, we endeavour to provide each child with the knowledge and skills to confidently work towards their full potential.

Although children’s academic success is very important to us, as can be seen in our results, we firmly believe in developing the whole child and provide opportunities for each and every pupil to shine.  This is achieved by celebrating wide-ranging achievements and developing self-worth and confidence through positive reinforcements.

At St James’, led by experienced, skilled teachers, we provide an outstanding, engaging curriculum for all our children; as well as promoting strong values of teamwork, respect and inclusivity.   We aim to provide a strong foundation for every child's future, equipping them with life skills and a life-long love of learning.

Positive partnerships with the local community, especially our colleagues from our feeder Infant School and St James’ Parish Church, are key to our children's success and we work hard to involve families in their children's learning. The Governing body, which is made up from representatives from the parents, school, church and local community, meet regularly to support and challenge the school’s performance.   We aim to provide an enriched school experience outside of normal school hours.  As well as continuous sporting activities, we also have excellent facilities for ‘early bird’ and after school sessions.

Please contact the school office if you would like to make an appointment for a visit to our school.

We look forward to meeting you.
