Headteacher's Welcome
At St James' C of E Junior School we pride ourselves on creating a nurturing atmosphere, where our children are encouraged to grow and learn together. Although children’s academic success is very important to us, we firmly believe in developing the ‘whole child’ and provide a varied program of opportunities for each and every pupil to shine. Learning is memorable at St James; a relentless focus on the learner helps our skilled staff plan diverse and rich activities that engage children in a way that makes learning stick. Our children here follow ‘The St James’ Way’. This is an approach, designed by the children but followed by both students and staff together. Our mantra of ‘Be Kind, Be Respectful, and Give Your All’ is clear in every lesson and every interaction. We value the importance of developing our spiritual, moral, social and cultural understandings and our children here are a delight to work with. We work closely with our local parish in developing our values of friendship, peace, forgiveness, thankfulness, compassion and endurance. Positive partnerships with the local community, especially our colleagues from our feeder Infant School and St James’ Parish Church, are key to our children's success and we work hard to involve families in their children's learning. The Governing body, which is made up from representatives from the parents, school, church and local community, meet regularly to support and challenge the school’s performance. We aim to provide an enriched school experience outside of normal school hours with varied drama, music and sporting activities, and are very proud to be the only local school with the highest accreditation of the Platinum School Games Award, 2024 for our commitment to providing sporting opportunities for all. We have excellent facilities for our early bird breakfast and after school club that offers wrap around care from 7:50 to 5:15pm for working families.
Please contact the school office if you would like to make an appointment for a visit to our school.
We look forward to meeting you.
