Plastic Pollution Assembly

Class: PSHE Year: 2019 - 2020

A very proud Headteacher today as I passed on the duties for collective worship to the children of Class 3 & 4.  The children presented their work on plastic pollution which had a theme of 'Think Global - Act Local'. I was literally blown away by the passion of the children for this hugely important issue and the work that had gone in to tackling the issue in their own unique way.

Amongst the assembly we heard of Facebook campaigns being set up by the children. The news of some of these had been picked up by local media with newspaper clippings and letters recieved from local commisioners and councillors. Some news had even travelled around the world with responses from children as far away as South Korea.

Other initiatives include children organising their own local litter picks; writing to Cadburys to challenge their packaging techniques; designing books, posters and leaflets, which they posted to houses in their streets; making paper-mache models; designing competitions to encourage people to recycle; and designing their own stickers to be sold. The list goes on.

I could not have felt prouder and already can't wait to see how our other classes have been getting on when we hear from them next week.

Keep up the good fight, kids!!!!
