Class 6 - more sea shanties

Class: Miss A Pool - Buttermere Year: 2021 - 2022

We have enjoyed learning about Sea Shanties this week. We didn't know much about them before we started our work.

We now know they are work songs, which sailors sung to help them work together and that the word 'shanty' comes from the French verb 'chanter'.

The 'Shantyman' leads the singing and he was the most skilled worker. William was our Shantyman today and he did a fantastic job keeping us all singing to the beat.

We had a go at writing our own version of the Wellerman and linked it to our work in Plastic Pollution.
