Class 6 - Jesus cleanses the temple.

Class: Church Links & RE Year: 2018 - 2019

This week Class 6 read Mark 11:15-18 Jesus cleanses the temple.  ‘Some people in Jerusalem were trading in the temple. Some were changing money unfairly.’

We thought about Jesus as a person and why he became angry?

Here are the children’s responses;

Why was Jesus angry?

William – people were turning the temple (a place of worship) into a market.

Joe – A temple is a place to pray in not a place to turn into a market.

George E – Jesus tipped the table because he knew it wasn’t right to trade in a temple.

Grace – Animals should be set free not caged.

Sophia – The people turned it into a market, Jesus wanted the temple to be quiet so people could pray to God.

Abby – Other people wanted to come to the temple to be healed.

Libby - People are meant to come into the temple quietly, Jesus was angry because people were not using it as a place of worship.
