Class 4 Sea Shanties

Class: Mrs Pickering - Bassenthwaite Year: 2021 - 2022

This have enjoyed learning about Sea Shanties this week. We didn't know much about them before we started our work.

We now know they are work songs, which sailors sung to help them work together and that the word 'shanty' comes from the French verb 'chanter'.

The 'Shantyman' leads the singing and he was the most skilled worker and not the best singer. Some of us had a go at being the Shantyman when we did some singing in class.

We tried hard to write our own version of the Wellerman and linked it to our work in Plastic Pollution. I've had some technical issues trying to load it on here so have put it on Seesaw for Class 4 parents to see
