Class 4 - Maps and Archives

Our Maps theme has led us to a hidden away part of Whitehaven's history....

Before computers, all documents and information had to be stored on paper (amongst other materials!!).  We found that there is a place in Whitehaven where all these old documents and maps are still kept.  Some of them date back hundreds of years!!  One of the old parchments was written on stretched out sheep skin (disgusting).

We had an awesome day discovering the archives and using old documents to find out about Whitehaven's history.
