An Historic Adventure Day

Class: Mr Carruthers - Derwentwater Year: 2021 - 2022

Today, we had another visit into Whitehaven to help our history theme.  We studied the Atlantic Trade Triangle in class then we headed to The Rum Story to find lots of primary and secondary evidence about Whitehaven's involvement in this huge and important part of history.  
Then, unbelieveably, we were invited to the harbour commision office which overlooks the marina.  We went inside and were shown the attack points where the infamous John Paul Jones attacked our town! ..... We were also shown a dagger that one of John Paul Jones' crew left behind that night, and a newspaper from the day after the attacks!! Amazing primary evidence!
